This vacant land is situated in the easterly part of the Thornbury community within the Town of The Blue Mountains. Comprising part of Lot 29, Concession 8, the lands have about 190 feet (58m) frontage onto the east side of Grey Road 2, south of Highway 26. Area land uses include an existing campground that is on private services abutting to the north, the Georgian Trail to the east and, rural agricultural uses abutting to the south and west. In addition to agricultural uses, the immediate area also has a police and fire services centre to the west as well as the municipal wastewater treatment plant (Thornbury). A little further to the north and east, neighbourhoods provide for a mix of residential full-time and seasonal uses. Generally, more urban type land uses are prevalent to the west along the Highway 26 corridor and into built up portion of Thornbury. The lands have a tributary of Indian Brook traversing a part of the northerly section of the lands. A portion of the lands exhibit tree cover that appears to be a combination of minor successionary vegetation, planted trees and portions of an older woodlot. The Blue Mountains, known for its dramatic scenery, draws thousands of Ontarians each year to enjoy a host of recreational activities for all four seasons. The area has rugged sandstone tablelands, wilderness, valleys, waterfalls, rainforests, lookouts, canyons and so many wonderful walking trails. The town is famous for its ski hills in winter and its golf courses and beaches in the summertime. In close proximity you will find medical and homeopathic services, hospitals, shopping, galleries, wineries and cideries, fine dining, specialty food and grocery stores, libraries and the Thornbury Harbour.
