Collingwood Cyclists Rally Behind $500,000 Pump Track Expansion

Pump track rider in action at Collingwood

Collingwood’s cycling community is gearing up for an ambitious project. Local riders and families are working to raise $500,000 to build a second, World Cup-level pump track at Old Village Park.

The existing beginner and intermediate track opened to strong demand and quickly became one of the most heavily used recreational spaces in town. According to town officials, Old Village Park was the busiest park in Collingwood last year.

The community is hosting a fundraiser at Side Launch Brewing Co. on March 20, 2026, from 7:30 to 10:30 PM. Local band Jackson Zero will provide live music while riders and supporters gather to kick off spring cycling season.

The event will feature a raffle with prizes from bike shops, bike companies, and local businesses. Collingwood Pump Track branded hats and T-shirts will also be available.

A Community-Driven Vision

The pump track project started with a small group of local parents and riders. Ryan Markham, a director with the Collingwood Pump Track committee and a subcommittee of CORC (Collingwood Off-Road Cycling), has been instrumental in bringing the vision to life.

“We currently have a beginner and intermediate track,” Markham said. “That was a huge success. The phase two track – the plan is to build a World Cup track.”

The town has secured $300,000 for the project, though those funds have been pushed to next year’s budget. That means the community needs to raise its share to keep momentum going. Organizers have raised about $20,000 toward phase two so far.

What Makes This Special

The committee hopes to bring in Velosolutions, the international company behind many of the world’s top pump tracks, to design and build the expansion.

“Anybody can build a track of some sort, but for it to have any type of rhythm, it’s gotta be very specific,” Markham explained.

A professionally designed track could transform Old Village Park from a popular community feature into a true destination for riders across Ontario and beyond.
