As a thriving real estate company in the Blue Mountains area, we’re excited to share the latest news on a significant development project that will not only transform the local real estate landscape but also enhance the lives of seniors in our community. The Ontario government has responded to a request from the Town of The Blue Mountains, streamlining approvals for building 160 long-term care beds and housing for seniors in Grey County. The Community Campus of Care: This innovative development, named the Community Campus of Care, will be situated on approximately 20 acres of town-owned surplus lands at 125 Peel Street South. In addition to the long-term care beds, the campus will provide a variety of retirement home living options, such as affordable housing and attainable housing units (e.g., townhouses and apartments). The project will also include daycare facilities and specific commercial uses, making it an attractive and convenient place for seniors and their families. A New Tool for Development – The CIHA: The province is supporting this development through the Community Infrastructure and Housing Accelerator (CIHA), a new tool that assists municipalities in fast-tracking their planning process while increasing transparency and accountability. This is the first CIHA order to be issued by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between the Town of The Blue Mountains and the provincial government. The Long-Term Benefits for the Community: This project is expected to have a profound impact on the local community and its residents. The Community Campus of Care will cater to the growing demand for long-term care beds and senior housing in the region, ensuring that elderly residents have access to quality care and comfortable living options. Moreover, the multi-generational campus will create a vibrant, inclusive community where seniors can stay connected to their social support network, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being. By offering a mix of housing options, the Community Campus of Care will contribute to the overall real estate market diversity in the Blue Mountains area. This development is expected to attract more seniors and their families to the region, further boosting the local economy and increasing the demand for housing and related services. As a local real estate company, we are thrilled about this groundbreaking project that will reshape the senior living landscape in the Blue Mountains area. The Community Campus of Care promises to improve the quality of life for seniors and their families while stimulating the local real estate market. This development is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of the Town of The Blue Mountains, the Ontario government, and all stakeholders involved. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have on our community for years to come.
